Frequently Asked Questions

Our school is centrally located in Berlin Mitte at Rosenthaler Platz, easily accessible by public transportation. Our address is Torstr. 117, 10119 Berlin, 3rd floor. You can press the buzzer and then push the door to enter the building.

Our classes typically have 8–12 students to ensure an interactive and personalized learning experience.

If you have prior knowledge of German, we recommend taking our placement test to determine the right level for you. Absolute beginners can start directly at A1.1. You can access the placement test here.

You'll need to email us to change your booking. You can transfer to a different course at no cost up to 5 days before your original course is scheduled to begin. Last minute transfers are at All on Board's discretion as we rely on a minimum number of students to open a course.

You can cancel a course at no cost up to 5 business days before the course starts. After that time and before the start of the course you can receive a 50% refund. To do so you must email us at kam@allonboard.de. Once a course has begun no refund is possible. Please refer to our Terms & Conditions for the details.

Please email us immediately if something unexpected comes up that makes it impossible for you to continue the course, and we will see if there is something that can be done. Please note that we rely on a minimum number of students to run a course, and we do not offer refunds after a course has started.

Information about course books is included in the course description. You will also receive an email with everything you need for the course, including information about ordering course books, in the week before the course begins. Course books are not included in the price of the course.

You'll receive a link to resources at your level from A1 to B1 in the course registration confirmation email. From B1 onwards, check out our blog for German learners with posts on German culture, language and Berlin tidbits here. And last but not least, we hold a monthly Stammtisch at Südblock at Kottbusser Tor. We hope to see you there!

All on Board uses Google Meet for our online courses. You will receive an invitation from us before the start of your course.

Yes. Our classrooms are located in our center on the 3rd floor of Torstr. 117. The center is accessed by a lift and there are no stairs inside it. We have two gender-neutral bathrooms, one of which is wheelchair accessible. If you have specific questions, please email us at hello@allonboard.de.

The level names All on Board uses are from the the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR or CEF for short), which is standardized guidelines used to describe foreign language proficiency. CEFR is designed to be used for many languages and is based around "can do" statements. The course descriptions on our site make use of these can do statements.

Please talk to your teacher who will be happy to recommend what you can do to catch up.

No, for personal privacy and data protection reasons, recording of course sessions is not permitted under any circumstances.

Letters are not sent automatically. All on Board will send a Letter of Attendance upon request to students who have a minimum attendance rate of 75% in their course. You can contact us at kam@allonboard.de to ask for a letter. 

It’s not possible to receive an official level certificate without taking a certified test. All on Board courses follow the curriculum set out by the CEFR and cover all the areas necessary to succeed on one of the certified tests. We also offer exam preparation courses for the telc test. 

We’re happy to provide guidance on taking the telc or other tests; if you’d like more information just ask.

Yes. All on Board knows how important a great teacher is to your experience in a course. We therefore always plan for the same teacher to teach a course from beginning to end. Of course, there may be substitutions if a teacher is sick or takes some time off. 

Your follow up course for the next level is planned to start soon after your current course ends and will be available to book on our website. Before your course starts you will receive an email with details about the course and its follow up so that you can book early and secure your place. 

All on Board follows the calendar of public holidays for Berlin, and no in-person or online lessons take place on these days. However, the holiday is not counted toward the lessons in your course, and you don’t lose any of the hours you’ve paid for. Instead we simply skip that date when planning the course.
